Weaning First Food for Baby!

  • After six monthes only, you can start semi solid foods to your baby.

  • It should contain more Calories, protein, fats, vitamins, minarals, BUT IT SHOULD CONTAIN LESS FIBER.

  • Ensure before 6 months don't give any semi solid or solid foods. Babies don't have tongue and mouth control before 6 months.

  • Babies are ready for solid foods when they can sit without support and have a good control of their head and neck.

  • You may begin with mashed banana or stewed apple. slowly introduce other fruits like papaya and pears. After gaining confidence introduce pureed vegetables.

  • Baby like sweet foods. So Boiled carrot, Boiled potato mashed is good choices.

  • Introduce single taste foods, before going for a balanced diet. Also gradually mash up family foods when you can.

  • Most doctors recommend NOT giving first tastes, when your baby is very hungry. Consider feeding your baby a small amount of breast milk before offering any FOOD.

  • Put small amount in narrow spoon in middle of tongue, If he interested, Try next. If he pushes away, Try next day. Your baby will take in only few spoonfuls in the entire day, when you begin.

  • when introducing new foods, offer only one food for five days before offering another new food. This way you can look out for any allergic reactions. Signs of Allergy includes vomits, rashes and Diarrhoea.

  • Allow plenty of time for the first feeds. Dont Force Feed.

  • Remember to CHOOSE RIGHT MIX OF NUTRITIOUS FOODS TO ENSURE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT.
